Tech Guru Whitney Wolfe Ties The Knot!

Whitney Wolfe, CEO and founder of the dating app, “Bumble”, was married earlier this month to her long-time boyfriend and Texas oil heir, Michael Herd. The two exchanged vows in a beautiful ceremony in picturesque Villa Treville along the Amalfi coast, Italy. #homeiswheretheherdis was the hashtag the couple used for the wedding, playing on the last name of the groom. Whitney wore a beautiful gown by Oscar de la Renta that left guests breathless.

After the ceremony, guests were treated to a beautiful venue covered by a canopy of lemon trees. The couple then celebrated with a huge, single-tier wedding cake topped with fresh fruits. A wonderful time was had by everyone in attendance.

Whitney and her new husband met three years ago on Valentine’s Day in Aspen and were engaged in July.

Wolfe was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and attended Southern Methodist University, which is located in and around Dallas, Texas. She majored in International Studies. While still in college at the age of 19, she started a business selling bamboo tote bags to help people affected by the BP oil spill. The bags got a boost in the national press when celebrities such as Rachel Zoe and Nicole Richie took a liking to them and were photographed wearing them in public. Upon graduation, Wolfe moved to Southeast Asia where she worked with orphanages. In December of 2014 Wolfe moved to Austin, Texas and founded the dating app Bumble. Fumble is different than other dating apps because it encourages women to make the first move as opposed to men. Within a year, the app had reached 15 million unique conversation and 80 million matches.

Capitalizing on the success of the app, Wolfe has sought to expand the app and has launched companion apps BumbleBIZZ and BumbleBFF. BumbleBIZZ seeks to empower women with their careers in much the same way as the Bumble dating app, by giving them more control and choices.
