End citizen United is an organization that was founded on March 1st, 2015 whose main mission is to fix the broken political system in the U.S.A by putting an end to billionaires “buying” political power through funding political leaders. This organization works towards bringing transparency in the system used to finance campaigns. It’s an organization that stands up for the common citizens and represents their political views. It’s also a safe haven for political candidates attacked by these millionaire donors. It’s mainly funded by grassroots supporters all over the country who share the same interest; to bring back democratic campaigns and elections.
End Citizen United has chosen an elite team of democratic veteran operatives who are in charge of empowerment of the people, growing the organization, taking care of the campaign finances and communicating their message throughout the country. This organization also has a team of board members who are powerful political leaders who play a major role in persuading the presidential candidates to support this organization as well as preach its message in the various political offices and bringing in new candidates for funding. These board members have different experiences and knowledge in different fields and with this, they facilitate the growth of this organization.
The End Citizen organization collected 4 million dollars between January 2017 and March 2017 and is projected to collect 35 million dollars by the 2018 mid-term election. This will be an improvement in comparison to its first election in 2016 where 25 million dollars was collected. 100,000 people contributed in the first three months of 2017 with 40,000 people contributing for the first time.
Tiffany Muller, president and executive director of the organization said that the organization collected an average amount of 12 million dollars this year. The political action committee is dedicated to raising money for the congressional campaign of Jon Ossoff who is running for political office as a first timer in Georgia, Muller urged the donors to donate 500,000 dollars to his campaign. Ossoff has raised more than 4 million dollars for the April 18 special election where he is running for Republican House seat in Suburban Atlanta. Muller said that the organization is yet to decide which races to participate in the 2018 elections, but it could defend Democratic Sens. Sherrod Brown of Ohio And Jon Tester of Montana.
End Citizen United is an organization that raises money to finance candidates into various political seats, this reduces the number of political leaders elected through extravagant campaign financing by the rich people. The donors of this organization feel like the system is broken as those who fund the campaigns have the biggest say when it comes to issues affecting the country, thus contribute to putting an end to this “buying” of power.
