PC Gaming Site has some Great New Offerings

Steam, the popular pc gaming site has made some recent changes which will expand the experience for game users. Steam Spy is closing down after changes in the privacy policy of the company have eliminated the effectiveness of the option. Spy Steam provided valuable analytics to players and game developers that shows how many games were sold and played with.

The enhancement for users of Steam comes in the form of additional privacy that protects them from marketing and data abuse. It also comes after a number of scandals for companies like Facebook which have hurt the reputation of these sites and impacted their appearance in the form of regulators.

Android smartphone users now have a new game streaming app that they can download and use from Valve. Valve owns Steam, the popular online desktop PC gaming site. The name of the mobile app streaming service will be called Steam Link Game Streaming Service. With this service you will be able to use your Steam Controller or any other Bluetooth controller.

The point of this Steam app is to allow players to enjoy PC or desktop games on their mobile device. While mobile devices have a lot of computing power, the real challenge is managing the limited screen space and the input devices for the computer.

This is not Steam’s first attempt to step outside of the world of the PC gaming model that they dominate. Steam also created the Steam Box which allowed players to play PC games on their local television screen. These devices didn’t take off, despite the intuitive steam controller, that many gamers used.

There is no news on pricing of the mobile Steam App or if Valve will rely on increased game sales through the device to fuel its development.

Steam Link is currently available in beta mode for android devices but the intention is for it to be launched live later in 2018 and also expanded to the Apple iOS platform.
